A really nice Staunton chess set carved from Budrosewood and Boxwood, the knights of this set are haunted! Or are they haunting? The knights appear to have their manes raised and wear a frightening expression reminiscent of the mount of the headless horseman of the infamous Sleepy Hollow! The rooks of this unique set are also different, they are supplied with loose caps that can be fitted inside the crenelation or can be left off for a more traditional look if desired. The pieces are nicely weighted for good hand-feel and stability and are felted with green billiard cloth.
These chess pieces are Budrosewood and Boxwood, which can suit virtually any board color, however Walnut, Teak.
Boxwood Chess Pieces are the near universal standard for 'white' chess pieces in hand-carved sets. It is a fairly easy wood to work with, and shows off good detail.
